Devara (Davara Part 1) is a 2024 Indian Telugu-language action drama film written and directed by Koratala Siva. The film stars N. T. Rama Rao Jr. in dual roles, alongside Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor in their first Telugu film. Shruti Marathe, Talluri Rameswari, Prakash Raj, Murali Sharma, Ajay, Abhimanyu Singh, Shine Tom Chacko, and Narain. The film was officially announced in April 2021 under the tentative title NTR30, as it is Rama Rao’s 30th film as a lead actor, and the official title was announced in May 2023. In late-2023, the film was split into two parts.

The music was composed by Anirudh Ravichander, while the cinematography was done by R. Rathnavelu and it was edited by A. Sreekar Prasad. Principal photography for this part commenced in April 2023 and wrapped in August 2024. Filming took place in Hyderabad, Shamshabad, Visakhapatnam, Goa, and Thailand. The film is produced by Sudhakar Mikkilineni, Kosaraju Harikrishna, and Nandamuri Kalyan Ram under Yuvasudha Arts and NTR Arts banners. With a budget of Rs 300 crore, the film delves into themes of brotherhood and rivalry. However, the makers have now announced that Devara will be released in multiple languages simultaneously on September 27th, 2024.

Devara Part 1 Plot

Devara tells the story of a fearless protector of the seas, Devara, and his estranged son, Varadha. While Devara is revered for safeguarding his people, Varadha resents him, believing his father abandoned their family. As Devara embarks on a dangerous sea mission, his trusted ally Bhaira, a ruthless looter, betrays him for personal gain. In the aftermath, Varadha is forced to confront his father’s legacy and step into the role he once rejected. The film also marks Janhvi Kapoor’s South debut as Thangam, Varadha’s love interest.

As per reports, Saif Ali Khan will play the role of “Bhaira,” and Jr. NTR will have a double role as the father-son duo, Devara and Thangam. However, there’s no confirmation about the same.
