Introduction

Nothing” is raising the bar for its low-cost “Nothing Phone (2a).” The “Nothing Phone (2a) Plus,” designed to provide improved performance and an upgraded camera in a still incredibly attractive and reasonably priced smartphone, has been unveiled by the business. Not only does the new handset have improved hardware, but it also maintains the general design look that Nothing has come to be known for in the smartphone market. The transparent tech strategy stands out in a sea of monotonous black slabs.

Nothing Is Certainly Designed

The normal “Nothing Phone (2a)” and the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus don’t exactly have the same appearance, but that’s not always a bad thing. Since the first Nothing Phone, nothing has been producing visually appealing smartphones (1). Transparent technology is a key component of the Nothing design aesthetic. The gadget gives the impression of being able to see into the smartphone rather than just at it, even if it doesn’t allow users to see the phone’s core components. It’s a creative idea that makes the phone stand out more.

Notification lights are nothing new in the world of smartphones, but over the past five years or so, they’ve largely gone away. It’s nice to see Nothing at least somewhat reviving them. The positioning of the camera is unique, reminiscent of two eyes peering out from the back of the phone. Nothing is also pushing full steam ahead with its Glyph interface, which essentially consists of a series of LED lights on the back that can illuminate for things like notifications.

Nothing uses a different approach to software. The gadget is running Android, but on top of it is Nothing’s software skin, or Nothing OS, which comes with classic-looking widgets and monochromatic app icons. They introduced a new widget called the News Reporter widget for the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus. You might be interested in using it or not, but its purpose is to use AI to display news daily. But it does look fantastic.

Two additional colourways—Metallic Grey and a new black colour are available for the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus. Though I’ve seen the Metallic Grey in person, it looks much better. Both look fantastic. It’s not stated anywhere that the frame is made entirely of recycled aluminium. The device uses 100% recycled copper foil on the main circuit board and 100% recycled tin on each of the five circuit boards.

The Other Information

Nothing has replaced Qualcomm in the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus with a MediaTek Dimensity 7350 Pro 5G processor, which comes with 12GB of RAM and should be capable of handling anything you throw at it by 2024. Despite its stunning design, the phone is no slouch in terms of performance.

The phone features a full HD+ quality 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display on the front. Its brightness of 1300 nits is respectable, but not as good as some of the more costly phones available.

The 5,000mAh battery of the Nothing Phone (2a) Plus is capable of 50W rapid charging. That’s quite quick, and nothing guarantees that you’ll have a full day’s charge in 20 minutes (though I have my doubts about the brand’s notion of what constitutes a full day).

Nothing quickly highlights the Phone (2a) Plus’s “triple 50MP camera system,” but it should be noted that the front-facing selfie camera counts as one of those cameras. the primary and ultrawide cameras on the back of the gadget are still there, and their specs are similar. However, the selfie camera has an increased resolution, which Nothing claims can result in crisper pictures.

On August 7, the “Nothing Phone (2a) Plus” will go on sale for $399 in London and the US through Nothing’s US Beta Programme. Go to nothing.tech for further details.
