The film was produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film stars Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Lewis Pullman, Geraldine Viswanathan, Harrison Ford, Wyatt Russell, Lewis Pullman, Chris Bauer, Wendell Edward Pierce, Hannah John-Kamen, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. It is intended to be the 36th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The movie was announced in July 2022, and the cast members were revealed in September. Principal photography started in Trilith Studios and Atlanta Metro Studios on February 26, 2024, and will end in July. Filming was delayed because of the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Filming took place from February to June 2024 at Trilith Studios and Atlanta Metro Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, with additional filming in Utah. The music was composed by Michael Giacchino, while the cinematography was done by Andrew Droz Palermo, and it was edited by Harry Yoon. The film estimated budget at $150 million dollars. Thunderbolts* is scheduled to be released on May 2, 2025.
